Fathan Subchi, as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ikatan Alumni Pelajar Islam (IKA-PMII) for the 2025-2030 period, completed the formation of the organization’s leadership. However, a controversy arose when Member of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Aqib Ardiansyah, claimed that his name was used without permission in the leadership lineup.
Aqib’s Response:
-
Issue Raised: Aqib stated that he had not been approached or given any confirmation regarding his inclusion in the leadership of IKA-PMII under Fathan Subchi.
-
Call for Ethical Communication: Aqib emphasized the importance of ethical communication within such organizations, urging for all members to be approached respectfully to ensure their willingness to contribute effectively.
-
Expressing Displeasure: He expressed his objection to his name being listed without prior confirmation and highlighted the need for mature organizational practices within IKA-PMII. Aqib conveyed his concerns to the relevant parties.
Selection of Fathan Subchi:
-
Election at Munas VII: Fathan Subchi was chosen as the Chairman during the 7th National Conference (Munas VII) held at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta, where he secured the position by defeating three other candidates.
-
Candidate Withdrawal: A debate arose during the selection process as, per the new regulations, the Chairman’s position was limited to two terms. Incumbent Muqowam, having served twice, was disqualified.
-
Final Candidates: The remaining candidates besides Fathan Subchi were M Nur Purnamasidi, Zaini Rahman, and Musahadi.
-
Selection Results: Fathan Subchi, with 188 votes out of 198 from 32 regions, was chosen after deliberations among the four candidates, following the withdrawal of Muqowam from the race.
Despite the election outcome, the unauthorized inclusion of Aqib Ardiansyah’s name in the leadership roster highlighted the importance of respectful communication and prior consent within the organization.
