Direktorat Lalu Lintas (Dirlantas) of the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Tengah) has implemented a local one-way traffic engineering system starting from the Brebes Toll Road section to Kalikangkung. The initiative is in place to anticipate the surge of homecoming (mudik) traffic from the west to the east.
Implementation Details:
-
Commencement: The local one-way system was put into effect from Thursday, March 27, at 11:00 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
-
Restrictions: Vehicles coming from the Semarang direction are no longer allowed to enter the Kalikangkung Toll Gate.
-
Traffic Flow: From west to east, covering the areas from Brebes to Kalikangkung.
Reasons for Implementation:
Dirlantas of Polda Jateng, Kombes Sonny Irawan, explained that the decision was based on the following factors:
-
Increase in Traffic: A notable rise in the number of vehicles, with counts escalating from 3,000 to 4,700 units between Tol Cikatama and Kalikangkung.
-
Traffic Density: Monitoring of traffic conditions, particularly congestion in the Pejagan region and overall traffic volume.
-
Specific Indicators: Consistent observation of 4,000 vehicles passing through for 3-4 consecutive hours.
Route and Timings:
-
Local One-Way Section: From kilometer 261 in Brebes to kilometer 414 in Kalikangkung.
-
Alternative Route: Lane B, usually designated for eastbound traffic, has been redirected for westbound vehicles.
Future Plans:
-
Awaiting further directives from the National Traffic Authority (Korlantas) for the implementation of a national one-way traffic system.
-
The current arrangement is localized within the Central Java Police region, with national guidelines expected to be followed the next morning.
